Accommodation in Australia

All Types of Accommodation in Australia to Suit All Tastes and Budgets

Australia is a hugely popular destination for a number of reasons. Whilst it may be largely isolated from the rest of the world, this mere factor has certainly not diminished the amazing hunger and high regard that international tourists have for it.

From Darwin in the north and Melbourne in the south, to Perth in the west and Brisbane in the east, Australia has a massive land area that offers a variety of sights and sounds, climates, sporting interests, accommodation and people.

Whether you are making the trip to Australia by yourself for a holiday or business, or you are heading over with a partner, friends or family, there is an array of options to choose from when it comes to accommodation in Australia.

If you are visiting one or several towns or cities, you can be confident that wherever you head, there will be pretty much every type of accommodation you need. If it's backpacking that you enjoy, you have great options in most places, as you certainly will when it comes to bed and breakfast accommodation. If you are looking for greater independence and freedom, then perhaps you might like to snap up one of many motels or hotels throughout the country. For those of you who are more inclined to lean towards something a little more lavish, then you might be tempted by some of Australia's luxury holiday lodges. Whichever you choose, there is all forms of accommodation in Australia to suit all budgets.

Before you head to the sun-belt that is Australia, you should do some research to establish just which town or city might offer the types of sights, sounds and activities that are in line with your tastes. The important thing to do is to make a list of different accommodation options in different areas of the country so that if you arrive intending to stay somewhere and decide you want to move on, then you'll have something up your sleeve.

If quality sun and high rise apartments is your cup of tea, then the eastern beaches of the idyllic Gold Coast might be the dose of paradise you are looking for. When it comes to accommodation in Australia, the high rise apartments of Surfers Paradise are some of the most highly sought after options.

Whether you are visiting Australia for a short break or heading down under for long stay, you will experience nothing but satisfaction. The people are friendly and down-to-earth, there's a heap to do and the weather is delightful. Anything more than that is just a bonus.

The Australian Bed & Breakfast Book is Australia's most popular B and B accommodation guide. It lists more B & B accommodation than any other publication in Australia (AU). Paying Guest Accommodation

The idea of paying guest accommodation is gradually gaining momentum. Where a hostel was the preferred choice among students and immigrants, paying guest accommodation has taken over the complete scenario. Hostels did have their share of popularity with most of the students staying in hostels. However, with the shift in the generation and the safety concerns, most prefer to stay as a paying guest.

The accommodation comes with a number of options that have an upper hand over the conventional hostel facilities. Flatmates are relieved of the cleaning as well as the cooking in such an accommodation while it also includes furnished rooms, parking, and good food, along with enhanced safety. With the increase in the popularity of the paying guest mode of accommodation, property dealers have also been offering the accommodation at convenient rates that will suit the immigrant working population.

On the contrary, for women and girls, a ladies hostel still stand out as a better option when it comes to safety. Being with a group of roommates will ensure better security when in a new city. However, a group of women and girls can easily find safety in a accommodation as well. The idea is to check through the paying guest facility before enrolling themselves.

Following are the essential criteria that should be checked and made sure before choosing a PG accommodation in a different city.

Location: The location of the PG facility is important. Prefer a residential complex instead of a commercial locality. The place should also be close to the work place or the college you go, which betters your traveling. Having transport facilities near to your paying guest facility is another important criterion that must be checked. Make sure that you also confirm with the existing roommates about the facilities at the house.

Convenience: A paying guest facility is bound to offer food, which is included in the rent. However, checking these little things will give you a better understanding of the facilities.

Restrictions: Get a thorough information about the restrictions that the owner may implement. In case of any, you may want to present your situation with them in order to clear any of the discrepancies that may arise later on.

Rent: The rents for most of the PG accommodations are similar to that of a hostel. However, make sure that the food and the other basic amenities come under the rent, barring, which would not serve the purpose of a PG.

Moving to a new city may seem an overwhelming idea, but with the accommodation facilities solved, the rest of the issues will become alright with time.

Gold Coast Hotels and Accommodation

Choosing the best place to stay while on holiday at the Gold Coast of Queensland Australia can be quite a challenge, not because it's hard to find, but because there are so many options!

Lets Break it Down:First thing to note is that the Gold Coast is made up of several suburbs, mostly positioned along the glorious coast and some spreading inland right back to whats called the Hinterland region.

So, you have a choice of being near to the ocean and beach, some that are inland in amongst suburbia and some in amongst natural settings of rain forests. So, if your looking for serenity, or a green eco-holiday, look towards the Hinterland area, and if your trying to save some bucks the inland places maybe a little cheaper.

The bulk of accommodation options are located along the coastline, if your looking for somewhere very close to the beach check the suburbs of Main Beach, Surfers Paradise, Broadbeach, Miami, Burleigh Heads, Tugun, and Coolangatta. The last four of those suburbs will probably offer the cheapest accommodation next to the beach.

Also consider how close you would like to be to all the nightlife. Surfers Paradise is the center of all the action being packed with clubs and bars. There's also a casino and a couple of nightclubs at Broadbeach. If you want to go out every night then one of those suburbs would be my choice. It can be tough to get taxis late at night (or early morning!) on the Gold Coast.

If your looking for something out of the way and a little more exclusive check out Hope Island and Sanctuary Cove. They also have golf courses. There's more golf resorts located in and between the suburbs of Parkwood and Robina.

Once you have a rough idea of the suburb that's going to best suit your style of holiday then you can go about finding the best deal. Gold Coast accommodation isn't renowned for being cheap, but if you hunt around and plan ahead, great deals can be found.

As you'd expect prices go up during peak periods such as school holidays and during major events such as the GC600, formerly the Indy Carnival, although prices for accommodation during the four day car racing event have come down dramatically in recent years prices for a place next to the track can be much higher than normal rack rates.

Budget accommodation on the Gold Coast will start around 60AUD and mid-range places close to the beach will go for between 90 to 160AUD. Many of the discount accommodation brokers such as hotelclub and roamfree can provide rates well below normal rack rates see goldcoastinfo.net for a full list of discount accommodation brokerages.

It also worth noting that most accommodation on the Gold Coast is self-contained apartment style, which may feature kitchens and fridges. The buildings themselves are resort style with many featuring pools, spas, gyms and more. There are actually only a handful of hotels in the region mostly located around Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach.

Good luck with choosing your place to stay, be safe swimming at the beaches and enjoy the sunny, beautiful Gold Coast.

Rod L'Huillier has lived on the Gold Coast of Queensland Australia for many years. He enjoys the beautiful beaches, hinterland escapes and the temperate climate. For a listing of discount accommodation booking agents featuring hotel deals and apartment specials, check out the Gold Coast accommodation page at the local site, GoldCoastInfo.net. The site was built locally and provides a wealth of information on the region that may help with planning your holiday to the area.

The Kahler Grand Hotel in Rochester Minnesota offers many aspects of what is become known as a wellness hotel or healthtel. The Kahler Grand advertises that it can cater to any budget from modest to luxury. So what makes The Kahler Grand Hotel a wellness hotel? One major attraction is the Mayo Clinic located close by. The hotel is home of the Healing Touch Health Spa which offers all the normal amenities of a well equipped health spa in addition to a fitness center.

Normally just having a spa and indoor fitness center would not constitute a wellness hotel, but the Kahler Grand Hotel offers many services directly through the Mayo Clinic. In addition to health services offered, the hotel is nearby many popular shopping and historic districts of Rochester. Guests can walk across the skyway to the Grand Shops at Kahler/Marriott which is home to restaurants, boutiques, and over 60 stores. Other services offered at the hotel are: Medical Concierge Service (offering prescription delivery and other services), beauty/hair services, free transportation to the Mayo Clinic and local shopping and entertainment districts.

TripAdvisor has the Kahler Grand Hotel at 3 out of 5 stars. 58% of reviewers giving the hotel a thumbs down review, most seem to think it needs a face-lift. The re-occurring theme on TripAdvisor is that the hotel seems to be outdated. Although we also feel that may be part of it's "Grand" appeal.

Choosing Holiday Accommodation at Parque Da Floresta, Algarve, Portugal

1) Not price but value

Having decided your preferred holiday dates, number of bedrooms needed, and if you require a property with private pool or prefer the idea of sharing a pool, what else other than price is worth thinking about? Like many you will have checked the web and probably considered a property rented by private owners for extra value and the following top tips should give you a few ideas worth considering when choosing a property with shared pool, direct from owners.

2) Exactly what type of property are you booking and can you see pictures

When you get quotes make sure you are comparing apples with apples. Is it the same type of property, can you pay in £'s not €'s, does the price include a welcome pack (only appreciated after the long trip), and does it include a maid cleaning service and if so how often per week? If you decide to get a lower cost flight and require to arrive and depart during a week day are you paying a premium, and if you are a golfer what level of discounts will you get by booking your preferred property? Can you pay with Paypal for extra peace of mind, and can you depart late on your last day?

Property standards vary from standard (the basic), to superior (because of location and furnishing) to deluxe; the ultimate for a luxury relatives holiday with excellent facilities, great views, and air conditioning (which will make a huge difference in the summer months). By booking direct from owners you should be able to see a range of pics so you can see exactly what you are booking. After all, do you require to book your holiday blind and by chance?

3) Location

4) Guest comments

Parque da Floresta is a large resort and although everything is easily accessible by car, you may wish to consider your preferred area. The newest is Quinta da Emcosta Velha offering a choice of 5 pools (one just for children), newest luxury restaurant, fun and games room for children, and offering deluxe properties, with new kitchens, furnishing, fully air conditioned, telephones, and the highest of standards. Some properties are close to pools so you can sit outside the property and watch your children having fun in the pool simultaneously for added safety and comfort.

Although there's numerous websites accessible, make sure you check the visitor's comments as it's late after you arrive. Get real and honest comments about an individual property, and that you will also find in the guest book in the property.

5) Talk to the owners

6) Something special

Everyone has questions when we are booking their main relatives holiday so pick up the phone and talk to the owners. This will give you immediate and hopefully honest views about the resort, rental property, location, things to see and do and much much more. If you've any special considerations like a nearby pool, wheelchair access, playing space for children etc most owners will be delighted to help.

Although not exhaustive, these tips hopefully help you in considering the right property to meet your needs and making sure your relatives holiday is extra special, truly memorable and get maximum value from every pound you spend.

Many properties at Quinta da Emcosta Velha, within Parque da Floresta offer roof terraces for relatives privacy, and all day sun bathing and five or five have been extended to provide a huge outdoor space that will probably become a relatives holiday favourite. Again check the pics, or ask the owners why else you should book their property.

Nestled in the calm locales of country side they are just perfect for harassed souls who can forget the tensions of their taxing schedule and enjoy a few days of bliss and ecstasy. The setting is just perfect to rest and recharge the exhausted batteries.

Another reason that makes these cottages so well liked by people is the unlimited freedom that people get to make their stay enjoyable and memorable over here. So much so that one can also make his meal here. Such a provision goes a long way in cajoling people in spending there vacation at these cottages. Especially families with small kids find these cottages perfect for them.

Self catering cottages are also very popular amongst business communities as well. They find these places to be just perfect for arranging their official get together and team building exercises.
